About SocialCard

SocialCard is a free social link preview tool for creators, marketers, and anyone who shares links online. We help you see exactly how your URLs will look on LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram—before you post—so you can fix broken previews and get more clicks.

The problem we solve

When you paste a link on social media, platforms don’t just show a bare URL. They fetch your page and build a link preview: a card with a title, a short description, and an image. If that preview is wrong—missing image, old title, or generic description—people are less likely to click, and your brand looks unpolished. The fix usually comes down to Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags on your site, but most people don’t know how to check or correct them.

We built SocialCard so you can paste any URL and instantly see how it will appear on each major platform. No sign-up, no paywall. Our main preview tool shows LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and Instagram side by side. We also offer dedicated tools: a LinkedIn preview tool, a Twitter Card validator, a Facebook link preview tool, and an Instagram link preview tool. Use them before you share so every link looks the way you want.

Why link previews matter for you

Link previews don’t directly affect Google rankings, but they have a big impact on how your content performs when shared. A clear title and a strong image increase click-through rates from social. They also reinforce your brand: consistent, correct previews look professional and build trust. Broken or generic previews do the opposite. Whether you’re sharing your own articles, landing pages, or product links, getting the preview right is one of the highest-impact, lowest-effort improvements you can make.

If your social link previews look wrong—wrong image, old title, or no description—the cause is usually one of a few things: missing or incorrect Open Graph tags, caching on the platform’s side, or image size and URL issues. We’ve written a detailed guide on why social link previews look wrong and how to fix them. It walks you through meta tags, cache refresh (Facebook Sharing Debugger, LinkedIn Post Inspector), and platform-specific quirks so you can fix broken previews for good.

Open Graph and Twitter Cards: the basics

Open Graph is a protocol that lets you control how your page is represented when shared. Meta tags like og:title, og:description, and og:image live in your page’s <head> and tell LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, and others what title, description, and image to show. X (Twitter) uses the same idea with its own tags: twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description, and twitter:image. In practice, most sites set both so that links look good everywhere.

For a complete walkthrough of what these tags are and how to use them, read our Open Graph and social link previews complete guide. It covers the essential meta tags you need, how to check and fix your previews, and how to use preview tools (including ours) to verify everything before you post.

Image sizes and meta tags that work everywhere

The most widely recommended size for og:image and Twitter Card images is 1200×630 pixels. That aspect ratio works well on LinkedIn, Facebook, and X. Use JPEG or PNG, keep file size under about 1 MB so crawlers can fetch quickly, and always use absolute URLs for the image. Along with a well-sized image, set og:title, og:description, og:url, and the corresponding Twitter tags so every platform can build a good preview.

We’ve put together a practical guide on the best image sizes and meta tags for social sharing. It includes recommended dimensions, file format and size tips, a checklist of meta tags to set for every shared page, and platform-specific notes for LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
